The IFPSM 'Hans Ovelgönne Fund', which was donated by the first President of the Federation, has been a main source of research and development activities for the Purchasing profession.
IFPSM History The IFPMM was founded on 13-14 May 1974, at the Oxford and Cambridge Club, UK, as the European Federation of Purchasing (EFP) and the International Federation of Purchasing (IFP) merged. As a result of this merger the International Federation of Purchasing and Materials Management (IFPSM) was created. The first 'council' meeting was held over the same period and the late Mr Hans Ovelgönne from Germany was elected as the first International President. The 'founders' were 26 National Associations, coming from 24 countries on 4 continents.
