ELA, the European Logistics Association, is a federation of 30 national
organisations, covering almost every country in Central and Western
Europe.
The goal of ELA is to provide a forum for co-operation for any
individual or society concerned with logistics within Europe and to
assist industry and commerce in Europe.
ELA formulates European Logistics Education Standards and encourages
the acceptance of these standards by each of its member nations. A
Vocational Qualification procedure is in place to enable the standards
to be accepted on a pan-European basis.

Responsible for marketing
and PR, organising conferences,
seminars and
workshops,

Maintains close contacts between
ELA and other organisations

universities)

Brings logistics issues to the attention
of the EU and acts as a "think

for the EU authorities.
The members of this committee and

ELA members participate in steering groups and working groups for EU

Standardisation
Develops European and international logisitcs standards in co-operation
with CEN and national standardisation institutes. Chairman Mr. Piet van

Vocational Education & Training (VETC)
Co-ordinates, develops and co-operates with the European Certification
Programme. It promotes the use of multi-media technology by developing
logistics "virtual education programmes in logistics".

Transport Research Committee
A research focus on transport in the logistics system, its work has an
important relationship with European policies, macroeconomics and
ecology.
